Texas A&M football?s 10-year trend

This is the 13th in a series looking at the 10-year trends of SEC football teams.

Here is a look at Texas A&M?s 10-year trend.

The Aggies were way up last season under first-year coach Kevin Sumlin, going 11-2 overall with a 6-2 record in their first year in the SEC, which included a victory over national champ Alabama in Tuscaloosa. A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel won the Heisman Trophy in his redshirt freshman season.

Before Sumlin?s arrival from Houston, former NFL head coach Mike Sherman went 25-25 as the Texas A&M coach from 2008-11. The Aggies went 9-3 in the regular season in 2010. After a 5-2 start in 2011, however, the Aggies finished 7-6 leading to Sherman?s ouster.

Sherman had replaced Dennis Franchione, who was 32-28 from 2003 through 2007. His final College Station team stated 5-1 but lost four of its last five to end up 7-6.
